Well -it all started out as fun on this inspection which was the day before Halloween. My client was buying a 95 year old home in Hermann, MO. She asked rather jokingly if I could inspect for ghosts! I laughed and said sure, “No extra charge!” Then I asked her if she had some concerns. In this case she had read that undisclosed paranormal activity, murders, deaths, fires and meth labs could all impact value and safety – whether perceived or real.
I shared with her a way to gain added peace of mind. She could research the property through “Died in House” online company. Their price starts at about $12. Their web address is www.diedinhouse.com. I also suggested talking to neighbors and the owners for more information. As to finding paranormal activity, ghosts or goblins I had no clue.
In this case I didn’t see any clues that would substantiate her fears. But in my experience I have found my fair share of undisclosed attic fires, untreated water damage and prior meth lab activity.
Blessings! Wes Kelley
